He began working in the home building industry by pushing a broom while attending the University of North Dakota in 1974.  For the next 15 years, he learned the ins and outs of home building – learning by doing, and doing whatever was needed to get the job done – right.

In 1989, he began his own business in the Fargo-Moorhead area, framing and finishing homes for a number of “briefcase builders”.  As his company grew to over 20 employees, he began his own small developments.  He discovered that he enjoyed working with people from design to finish in building their new homes. 

Between 1994 and 1999, he developed several small neighborhoods in Moorhead and East Grand Forks, MN.  When he returns to these neighborhoods today and sees the pride the homeowners have taken in the maintenance and maturing of their homes and neighborhoods, he’s proud and encouraged to continue this business and lifestyle.

In 2000, they moved to the North Shore when his wife, Jackie, was offered a position with St. Luke’s Hospital.  His only request when they made this move was to choose their new hometown.  After many miles and hours of cruising the region, they arrived in Two Harbors.  They were immediately taken by the feel of the town; and, even more so, the potential of this area and its people.

Since 2001, Palisade Custom Homes has built 40 new homes for families in and around Two Harbors, and helped several others remodel and renovate their homes.  All homes built by Palisade are designed to meet the needs and wants of the homeowners.  This has been Dennis' building philosophy over the years, and continues with the Harbor Hills development.

About Jackie Jabs

Home building and construction are not new to Jackie Jabs.  She comes from a long line of homebuilders and craftsmen in the Great Lakes area.  She has worked “behind the scene” with her husband, Dennis, for many years, whether hosting open houses, assisting with construction, landscaping, or bookkeeping.  She has joined him in promotion and sales of his developments through Century 21 Gilderman & Associates.

You may also recognize Jackie as a member of St. Luke’s Hospital staff, or from numerous sporting events.  She is an avid outdoors person and athlete.  She has a passion for the North Shore and its people.
